Privacy policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and who we share it with.
Overview
This policy covers the personal information BreakCount collects when you use the service, why we collect it, and who we share it with. It applies to the public site and the signed-in app.
BreakCount is based in Sydney, Australia. We handle personal information in line with Australian privacy law, including the Australian Privacy Principles.
Information we collect
Account details: your email and business name. Clerk handles sign-in, so we never see or store your password ourselves.
Order data: the Weekly Order Report you import from Whatnot, including show names, item descriptions, sale amounts and fees. Parsed orders never carry the buyer's name. The original uploaded file is stored as-is until account deletion.
Costs you enter: what you paid for each lot, the lot's name and any notes you add for it, and the label and amount of any other cost you log.
Preferences: your timezone and currency, and whether the Monday email digest is turned on.
How we use it
We use this information to calculate your show verdicts and net profit, to run features like the Monday email digest, and to bill you if you are on a paid plan.
Payments
Stripe handles all billing and payment processing for BreakCount. Your card number never touches BreakCount.
Who we share data with
We use a small number of companies to run BreakCount. Each only sees what it needs to do its job.
| Company | What they do for us |
|---|---|
| Stripe | Payments |
| Clerk | Sign-in |
| Supabase | Database and file storage |
| Resend | |
| Cloudflare | Hosting |
| Google Analytics 4 | Analytics |
| Sentry | Error and performance monitoring |
These companies store and process data outside Australia, mainly in the United States.
We use Google Analytics 4 on our public pages, like this one, to understand traffic. Google Analytics sets its own cookies on those pages. The signed-in app runs no analytics and sets only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. Sentry handles error and performance monitoring everywhere, on the public site and inside the app. Sentry is never used for ads or tracking.
How we protect it
Connections to BreakCount are encrypted, your data is encrypted at rest by our database provider, and per-account access rules keep each seller's data reachable only from their own sign-in. If a data breach ever puts your information at serious risk, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the law requires.
How long we keep your data
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we keep it for 7 days, then we permanently delete it from our live systems, including any files you uploaded. Deleted data can persist in our encrypted database backups for a short time after that, until those backups expire.
Your choices
You can take your data with you at any time: go to Account and choose Export everything as CSV. This works on every plan. You can update your profile, timezone and currency from account settings. You can delete your account anytime, which starts the 7-day grace period above.
You can also ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, using the contact below.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as BreakCount changes. If we make a material change, we will let you know before it takes effect.
